The Local Organising Committee invites submissions for the 2027 AARES Conference on topics related to the conference theme:
Seven Decades of Agriculture and Resource Economics: Lessons, Legacy and Futures
Submissions are welcomed across the fields of agricultural, resource, environmental, energy and development economics.
1 July 2026 - Call for submissions of contributed papers, posters, special sessions, and pre-conference workshops
9 August 2026 - Submissions close for contributed papers, posters, special sessions, and pre-conference workshops
2 October 2026 - Notification of submission acceptance to authors and conference registration opens
30 November 2026 - Closing date for early bird registration and speaker registration
Authors may submit proposals for one of the following presentation formats.
Pre-Conference Workshops
Workshops provide an opportunity to explore specialised topics, introduce new methods or tools, and engage participants in active learning.
Proposals should clearly outline the workshop objectives, content, target audience, expected learning outcomes, and proposed format.
Workshops will be held on Tuesday 2 February 2027 and may be scheduled as either a half-day or full-day session.
Special Sessions
Special Sessions are designed to facilitate deeper discussion of emerging research, policy issues, or professional practice.
Innovative formats are encouraged, including panel discussions, roundtables, debates, case studies, and mini-symposia.
Special Sessions will be allocated either 60-minute or 90-minute timeslots.
Contributed Papers
Contributed Papers provide an opportunity to present original research relevant to the conference theme and disciplines represented by AARES.
Accepted papers will be scheduled during the main conference program from 3–5 February 2027.
Presentations will comprise a 15-minute presentation, 3-minute question period and 2-minute changeover.
Posters
Poster presentations offer an opportunity to showcase research and engage with conference participants in an interactive format.
Accepted posters will be displayed during the main conference program from 3–5 February 2027.
Before commencing your submission, please ensure you have the title of your submission, details of all authors, an abstract or session description,
two relevant keywords (you'll be able to select these when submitting), and confirmation from your co-authors that the submission has been approved.
Please note that the corresponding author must also be the intended presenter for the submission.
Contributed Papers and Posters
Submissions require an abstract of up to 500 words.
Titles and abstracts will be used by the Conference Program Committee when developing the conference program.
Pre-Conference Workshops
Workshop proposals should include workshop objectives, key topics, tools, techniques, or methods to be covered and relevance to the AARES community.
Additionally, please include intended audience and assumed level of expertise and expected learning outcomes.
Applicants will also be asked to provide additional information on workshop format, presenter roles, session duration, and promotional activities.
Organisers of Pre-Conference Workshops are responsible for coordinating speakers and ensuring all presenters register by the required deadlines.
Special Sessions
Special Session proposals should include session theme and objectives, proposed format and structure, presenter/panelist details and audience engagement activities.
Applicants will also be asked to provide additional information on session timing, presenter roles, moderation arrangements, and promotional activities.
Organisers of Special Sessions are responsible for coordinating speakers and ensuring all presenters register by the required deadlines.
